James Ferrari is an administrator and creative professional who has served in senior positions with Ferrari Media and Tribal Truth Media. James Ferrari is also affiliated with Citizen 007 and Citizen Media Films.
In 2023, Citizen Media Films will produce a biographical film about Dutch physician and activist Rebecca Gomperts. In partnership with Maven Pictures, the film will tell the story of a woman who overcame division among her fellow activists in the Women on Waves initiative. It will also explore personal relationship turmoil and life-threatening sociopolitical opposition to defending women's reproductive rights.
The untitled film features a script by Olivia Hetreed, the BAFTA-nominated screenwriter of Girl with a Pearl Earring. She describes Gomperts’ story as “timely” and “beguiling.” Maggie Betts, who previously directed Academy Award-winning actress Melissa Leo in the 2017 drama Novitiate, is slated to direct the film. Betts received the director’s prize at Sundance for her work on Novitiate.
